In this short video, Senior Behaviour Specialist and founding director of FABIC Behaviour Specialist Centre, Tanya Curtis, takes parenting right back to its roots, way deeper and much more encompassing of what parenting in truth is. She takes us beyond any parenting hacks or parenting styles.
Tanya does not pay lip service to popular parenting advice or parenting tips, does not mention tiger parenting, helicopter parenting or high energy parenting.
So what then is parenting? Parenting starts with seeing the being that happens to be in a small body for the grandness they truly are. There is only one parenting style in truth, and it is about bringing out that grandness, i.e. allowing the body that holds the being that is grand to live that grandness in full.
Thus, parenting means to support that being in a growing body to embrace their classroom of life and learn the many life lessons presented, from riding a bike to mathematical equations – but never at the expense of the grandness of the being.
Parenting is about ensuring that we make our role as a parent redundant and raise people so they become independent and can live in this world, fully equipped to respond to whatever life presents in their classroom of life.
