Low self-esteem and lack of confidence happen when we are not present with our body and the life situation at hand, a bit like an absent landlord and nobody home in our body from the neck down!
Tanya Curtis, Senior Behaviour Specialist and founding director of FABIC Behaviour Specialist Centre, explains that not being present results in feelings of anxiousness that then lead to a sense of not having the skills to deal with what has been presented. And thus, enter low self-esteem and lack of confidence.
Only when we are present with our body, which means that mind and body are engaged in the task at hand, does lack of confidence not have an entry point. Being present results in feeling equipped to respond to whatever is in front of us, no matter what, where or who.
