Commitment to life means being willing to dive wholeheartedly into whatever life presents in the vast classroom of life. It describes a way of being that does not mind what life throws at us, what lessons it presents or whether others meet or don’t meet our expectations. For example, faced with a job opportunity that requires skills not yet mastered, commitment to life is willing and ready to develop the skills to navigate these challenges.
Senior Behaviour Specialist Tanya Curtis explains that commitment to life means to stay engaged and on the front foot. It is the willingness to explore what opportunities for learning and development are present and what skills need to be cultivated to enhance independence, capacity and the ability to navigate life, for oneself and all others.
And while the hurdles, life lessons and challenges presented are acknowledged, there is a willingness to develop the necessary skills to deal with whatever life brings. With commitment to life we are dedicated to moving forward regardless of the obstacles and willing to discover what lessons are there to learn and what skills can be developed.
Commitment to life is universal and applies equally to everyone.
