This chart provides a simple explanation of the BODY LIFE SKILLS Program, the key methodology used at FABIC that is based on simplifying the principles of Functional Behaviour Assessment.

The BODY LIFE SKILLS Program is about (1) understanding and (2) changing non-preferred or unwanted behaviour. It offers everyone the opportunity to return to their innate way of living closer to code blue. And thus, our responsibility is to claim our roles as:

1. A forever student of life
2. A forever teacher of life

The BODY LIFE SKILLS program then becomes an ongoing life cycle. There is no end and no beginning and it can go in one and then the other direction at any time.

This life cycle is based on:

1. BODY

• Identify what my (or another person’s) body does, says, thinks and feels at code blue
• Identify when my (or another person’s) body goes higher than code blue

2. LIFE

Ask:

• I wonder why?
• I wonder what part of life I perceive I am not yet equipped to respond to right now?
• I wonder what part of life another person perceives they are not yet equipped to respond to?

3. SKILLS

The forever student asks:

• What skills can I learn to self-master this part of life?

The forever teacher asks:

• What skills would this person benefit from learning so they can self-master this part of life?

When we feel we have the required skills to respond to life, our body remains closer to code blue until a new lesson in life is presented, ready for the willing student to learn new skills.

Thus, the cycle of BODY – LIFE – SKILLS is continuously repeated.
